Canucks 2-0 as Young Stars Classic concludes today

The Canucks have yet to lose a game in Penticton and they’ll look to keep things that way as they wrap up the 11th edition of the Young Stars Classic this afternoon.

Vancouver is coming off a 4-2 victory against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday after the Canucks scored four unanswered goals to take the win.

The Winnipeg Jets were first on the board when Brad Lambert found the back of the net early in the second frame.

Nikita Chibrikov then added to the Jets' tally to give Winnipeg a 2-0 lead halfway through the second period.

The Canucks began to claw away at the score late in the second period after Josh Bloom was in the right place at the right time and the puck bounced off him and into the net.

Less than a minute later, defenceman Elias Pettersson received the puck near the blue line and sent it flying to even the score.

With the game now tied, Anthony Romani buried his first goal of the night to give the Canucks the lead with 13:45 remaining in the match.

The Canucks continued their scoring spree as Vilmer Alriksson skated across Winnipeg’s crease and scored on a backhand shot to make it a 4-2 game, the final score.

While the Young Stars Classic may be coming to an end today, numerous members of the Canucks franchise will be sticking around Penticton as the team’s training camp is scheduled to begin on Sept. 19.
