BC man ready to buy some new wheels after ‘epic’ lottery win

When asked to describe the feeling of winning the lottery, Cory Maxwell only needed one word.

He called it “epic!”

Maxwell recently claimed a $500,000 prize from the BCLC after matching four of four Extra numbers from the Lotto Max draw on Nov. 29.

“I didn’t believe it at first,” noted the Abbotsford resident, who said he was at home when he checked his numbers on the BCLC Lotto! app. “It took me a little bit of time.”

The first person he broke the news to was his wife and Maxwell said she was unsurprisingly shocked as well.

While he wants to be smart with the life-changing windfall and save most of it for retirement, Maxwell plans to celebrate the win by purchasing a new vehicle.

The winning ticket was bought at the Otter Co-op Mount Lehman Gas Bar in Abbotsford.
